Refraction
Glass has a natural beauty to it through the way light interacts with it. I experimented in Octane and Cinema 4D to replicate the refraction and dispersion of light interacting with different forms of glass. I created a single object made up of intersecting shapes and looked through it at a variety of angles to see the different light interactions.
I presented these to a company I interned with, Meet The Edge, and they asked that I make the frames black and white and create a looping animation for their website.
This led to further experiments that focused on the sole refraction of intersecting shapes with glass textures applied to them. This time however I added color to each shape, which created another layer of depth through the creation of new colors at the points of intersection.
I was then tasked with creating a Title Sequence for the Future Proof Conference at Ringling College. I took these experiments and created style frames for said sequence. My direction was not chosen amongst other submissions, but it was great to get to bring these experiments to life.
